Dwarves & Determinates

Dwarf Varieties - Denoted by (D) in the variety name - Dwarf eludes to the height of the plant, not the size of the fruit. Most are slicer size unless found under a smaller category.
Planting and Care - Dwarf varieties are a cross between indeterminate varieties and determinate varieties of tomatoes. They are outstanding to grow in large pots (7gallon or larger) and only grow to 3.5 to 4.5 ft in height. They should never be suckered and only prune off damaged leaf sections. Once they start bearing fruit they will need staked or caged...I recommend both as they will get very heavy with fruit. If your going to stake please stake at the time of planting to avoid damaging the roots.

Determinate Varieties - Denoted by (DET) in the variety name - Determinates produce all at one time. So once they have produced a normally large set of tomatoes, they are done for the year.
